Today is my physical Birthday!

Today I am 17 years old! Where does time go? Before I know it, I'll be 18, then 25, then 40.... I guess the Lord is teaching me to live like I'm dying...
I got this book for my birthday called "I would die for You". It's about this 15 year old boy, BJ Higgins who went to Peru on a short term missions trip, got a rare disease, and died 6 weeks after he got home. I couldn't help but wonder why God chose to take him home? Then I got to thinking if I'm willing to die for my Savior. If I got a strange disease, or was captured by terrorrists, or any number of things, would I fight it? Do I consider my life so precious that I'd consider it more important to live, if God wants me Home? It's just gotten me to think about my calling to be a missionary and what people would remember about me if I did die? Would they remember my passion about Jesus? This book is very thought provoking and I recommend it to people who want to be missionaries!

Yeah, my cousin was going to get that book to read before we went to Peru. Due to some shipping problems they couldn't get it to her before we left. Maybe that was a good thing...

This is an awesome perspective to have! Besides, living like you're dying is more fun anyway!

It's hard to think that I could die though. I guess I should say it's a learning process! I don't like to think about death. I'm 17 for cryin' out loud! I don't like to think that I could die! But countless young people have died for the cause of Christ... So it's good to think about death. (Not morbidly of course!)

Yo! How's it goin Abby? I got a couple of recommendations for ya, all three of which have to do with PNG. The first is to read a book titled "To Every Tribe With Jesus". It will open up your eyas and your heart in an amazing way, and it will give you the set of necessary tools for working among tribal peopls.

The second one is a video called "Return to Hauna". It's about a missionary by the name of Marilyn Lazlo. She was a missionary in the East Sepik region, and this video tells about her ministry there, and it is filmed on location...which is simply awesome!

The 3rd item is a book that is written by Marilyn Lazlo and Luci Tumas. This is kinda the same thing as the video but in much more depth. The only downside to this book is that it spans such a long period of time in such a short amount of pages, so you sometimes feel like you're missing something. Other than that, it is a great book to build knowledge about PNG and to equip you with the tools necessary for serving in PNG. The title of the book is "Mission Possible: The Wonderful Story of God and a Wycliffe Translator in the Jungles of Papua New Guinea

Check 'em out!
